The
Eighth Annual John Levique Pirate Days will celebrate
the discovery of John’s Pass and prepare its residents for
hurricane season June 12th, 13th, and 14th. The city of
Madeira Beach will host a variety of events such as a
Pirate’s Ball, Pirate Sea Battle, street parade, treasure
hunt, adults and children’s costume contests, and more. The
event will also include various pirate themed merchandise,
food and beverage vendors, along with an abundance of
performers. Although admission to the event is free, other
proceeds will be donated to the Fisherman Lost at Sea
Memorial Fund.
On Friday, the Pirate Ball will be from 7-11 pm. The
night will be filled with food, music, and fun. The silent
auction will begin at 7pm with live entertainment from Terry
and the Pirates. At 9:30pm, the pirate crew captains will
be introduced followed by the adult costume contest at
10pm. Then, silent auction winners will be announced at
11pm. Prizes for the auction and costume contest are worth
up to thousands of dollars.

On
Saturday, there will be a kayak race, fight circle, corn
hole tournament, bar brawl, kids costume contest, rum party,
and performers featuring the West Coast Mutineers, and many
others. The opening the highlight of the day will be a boat
parade and Sea Battle. The boat parade will begin at 11am
and continue past Eleanor Island before it comes to a stop
at 12pm at the Boardwalk and Gulf Blvd. There, the
participants will engage in a ship invasion and sea battle.
Later that night at 8 pm, an awards ceremony will be held at
the Friendly Fisherman Restaurant awarding the most
decorated, lively, and smallest boats.
On Sunday is fight circles, street parade, bar brawl,
and VIP party at Bamboo Beer Garden. The street parade line
up will begin at 11am at Treasure Island City Hall on 108th
Ave. in preparation for the start of the parade at 1pm. The
parade will proceed north on Gulf Blvd and continue into
John’s Pass and exit on Pelican Lane. The parade will
disperse at the dirt parking lot area on Gulf Blvd and 135th
Ave.
Other events will be under way throughout the weekend
on both Saturday and Sunday as well. The Hurricane Expo
will include expert advice about protecting yourself and
your home during hurricane season, along with showcasing new
communication technology for such disasters. Also, a family
treasure hunt will commence, sending families through John’s
Pass village collecting various items. After all items are
collected, families can enter to win a grand prize, which
will be announced Sunday at 4:30pm.
